Smithtown, NY - June 23, 2014 - At the June 3rd General Meeting of the Suffolk County Legislature, Legislator Robert Trotta invited Pastor Robert Schoepflin from the Abiding Presence Lutheran Church in Fort Salonga to say the invocation.

Reverend Schoepflin has been with Abiding Presence since 1996 and was installed as the congregation’s senior pastor in January 2001. Prior to coming to Fort Salonga, he served at parishes in Islip and Manhattan. The church recently celebrated its 50 anniversary.

Each legislator is assigned a date by the Presiding Officer to invite a member of the clergy from his or her district to say the opening prayer for each General Meeting of the Legislature. The legislator is also responsible for the breakfast, which was catered by The Garage, whose owner lives in Fort Salonga and is a neighbor of Legislator Trotta.
