"Special Statement" Fog continues across portions of southern Connecticut and Suffolk County of New York, and is expected to remain until early Tuesday morning. Visibilities were generally 1 to 2 miles, however, at times, and in some locations, the fog was dense with visibilities as low as 1/4 mile. Town of Hempstead Sanitation Department Employee Killed in Vehicle Accident

East Meadow, NY - June 21st, 2014 - The Homicide Squad reports the details of a Fatal Vehicular Accident that occurred on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 9:25 A.M. in East Meadow.
 
According to detectives, Jarred Newallo, 25 of Hempstead and employed by the Town of Hempstead Sanitation Department was on rear step of sanitation truck, attempting to guide a second sanitation truck through a narrow street and this was complicated by a third uninvolved parked vehicle.  The two sanitation trucks at the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Chestnut Street collided with each other and striking victim causing crushing injuries.  The victim was transported to Nassau University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead by hospital staff at 10:15 A.M.  Both vehicles were released to the Town of Hempstead.
 
There is no criminality.
