The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a coastal Flood Advisory...which is in effect from 10 PM this evening to 2 am EDT Saturday. * Locations...along western Long Island Sound. * Tidal departures...around 1 feet above astronomical tide heights. * Timing...around the times of high tide between 10 PM and 2 am tonight. * Impacts...minor flooding of the most vulnerable shore roads and/or properties due to height of storm tide or wave splashover. Majority of roads remain passable with only isolated closures. There is no significant threat to life and any impact on property is minimal. Precautionary/preparedness actions... Town of Hempstead Sanitation Department Employee Killed in Vehicle Accident

The Homicide Squad reports the details of a Fatal Vehicular Accident that occurred on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 9:25 A.M. in East Meadow.

East Meadow, NY - June 21st, 2014 - The Homicide Squad reports the details of a Fatal Vehicular Accident that occurred on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 9:25 A.M. in East Meadow.
 
According to detectives, Jarred Newallo, 25 of Hempstead and employed by the Town of Hempstead Sanitation Department was on rear step of sanitation truck, attempting to guide a second sanitation truck through a narrow street and this was complicated by a third uninvolved parked vehicle.  The two sanitation trucks at the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Chestnut Street collided with each other and striking victim causing crushing injuries.  The victim was transported to Nassau University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead by hospital staff at 10:15 A.M.  Both vehicles were released to the Town of Hempstead.
 
There is no criminality.
