"Blizzard Watch" ...Blizzard watch remains in effect from Monday afternoon through Tuesday evening... * locations...southern Connecticut and Long Island. * Hazard types...heavy snow and blowing snow...with blizzard conditions likely. * Accumulations...snow accumulation of 1 to 2 feet...with locally higher amounts possible. * Winds...north 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph. * Visibilities...one quarter mile or less at times. * Timing...heaviest snow and strongest winds will occur overnight Monday into Tuesday. * Impacts...extremely dangerous travel due to heavy snowfall and strong winds with whiteout conditions likely. Secondary and tertiary roads may become impassable. Strong winds may down power lines and tree limbs. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A blizzard watch means there is a potential for falling and/or blowing snow with strong winds and extremely poor visibilities. Lindenhurst Man Seriously Injured in Motorcycle on Montauk Highway

Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a crash that seriously injured a Lindenhurst man this afternoon.

Lindenhurst, NY - June 17th, 2014 - Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a crash that seriously injured a Lindenhurst man this afternoon.

Joseph Uss was driving a 2011 Honda CRV westbound on Montauk Highway in West Babylon when he apparently suffered a medical emergency at approximately 4 p.m.  Uss lost control of his vehicle which crossed over into the eastbound lane, west of Great East Neck Road, and struck a 2003 Saturn Vue head-on. The driver of the Saturn, Jessica Klein, 21, of Lindenhurst, suffered minor injuries.

Uss, 64, of Lido Parkway, Lindenhurst , was transported by West Babylon Rescue to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip where he was listed in serious condition.

The vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
