The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a high wind watch...which is in effect from late Sunday night through late Monday night. * Winds...northeast 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. * Timing...strongest winds will likely occur from mid morning Monday into Monday evening. * Impacts...downed trees and power lines are likely, with numerous power outages possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles, and on elevated roads and bridges. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A high wind watch means there is the potential for a hazardous high wind event. Sustained winds of at least 40 mph, or gusts of 58 mph or higher, may occur. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts. , "Storm Watch" ...Storm watch remains in effect from late Sunday night through late Monday night... * winds and seas...east winds 25 to 35 kt with gusts up to 50 kt. Seas 6 to 9 feet...and as high as 9 to 12 feet east of Orient Point. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A storm watch is issued when the risk of storm force winds of 48 to 63 kt has significantly increased...but the specific timing and/or location is still uncertain. NCPD Crime Alert: Two Men Wanted for Robbing West Hempstead Capitol One Bank

West Hempstead, NY - June 18th, 2014 - The Robbery Squad reports the details of a bank Robbery that occurred at 3:00pm on June 17, 2014 in West Hempstead.

According to Detectives, two male black subjects, entered the Capital One Bank located at 255 Hempstead Avenue and approached a teller. One of the subjects made a verbal demand for money while the second subject stood nearby.  After obtaining an undetermined amount of U.S. currency the subjects fled on foot northbound on Maplewood Street, then east on Willets Avenue where they entered a red auto.  There were six employees and two customers present in the bank at the time of the Robbery.  No injuries were reported.

Subject one is described as a male black approximately 30-40 years old, 6’, wearing  a red nylon jacket, red baseball cap with a black brim, white shirt and light colored jeans.  The second subject is described as a male black, approximately 20-25 years of old, 5’6”, thin build, wearing a blue nylon jacket, red baseball cap, white shirt and jeans.
