The National Weather Service in New York has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow...which is in effect from 7 PM this evening to 7 PM EST Thursday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect. * Locations...eastern Union County New Jersey...southern parts of New York City...and Long Island. * Hazard types...heavy snow. * Accumulations...snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches tonight into Thursday. * Timing...rain mixes with sleet and snow this evening...before changing to all snow by midnight. Snow may be heavy at times late tonight through Thursday morning...before tapering off Thursday evening. * Impacts...hazardous travel conditions are expected tonight and Thursday due to reduced visibilities...icy roads and significant snow accumulations. * Visibilities...one quarter to one half mile at times. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. The First Squad is investigating a Burglary that occurred on Sunday, June 15, 2014 between 1:00 am to 5:30 am in Baldwin.

Baldwin, NY - June 16th, 2014 - The First Squad is investigating a Burglary that occurred on Sunday, June 15, 2014 between 1:00 am to 5:30 am in Baldwin.

According to detectives, a 55 year old female victim awoke and noticed that her front living room window was open and several items that were on her desk were knocked over.  The victim then noticed that her pocketbook containing cash, credit cards and personal papers were missing from her Talmadge Drive home.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding this crime to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.  All callers will remain anonymous.
