Couple Arrested in Island Park for Drug Possession with Child in Car, Police Report

NCPD report the arrests of Christy Crespo, 29, of Island Park and Jonathan Delrio, 28, of Port Jefferson for an incident that occurred on Wednesday, June 14 in Island Park.

Island Park, NY - June 15, 2017 - CIRRT (Criminal Investigations Rapid Response Team) officers report the arrests of two individuals for an incident that occurred on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 8:30 pm in Island Park.
 
According to officers, while patrolling an area of Island Park known for narcotics activity on Long Beach Road, officers came upon and took into observation a parked vehicle that was occupied by Christy Crespo, 29, of Island Park and her six year old son. A short time later Jonathan Delrio, 28, of Port Jefferson was stopped due to his suspicious activity and his claim to be assisting his girlfriend Christy with mechanical issues. 
 
Officers subsequently recovered a hypodermic needle from Delrio and upon attempting to verify his assistance with Crespo, officers observed and recovered, from within her vehicle, a quantity of marijuana as well as nine hypodermic needles and a plastic spoon containing a substance believed to be heroin. A further search of the vehicle was conducted and officers recovered an additional four hypodermic needles from the driver’s side floor and one from the rear pocket of the passenger’s seat.
 
Both defendants were placed under arrest without incident and the child was released to his grandmother at the scene.
 
Crespo is charged with two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Criminal Possession of Marihuana 5th Degree and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana.
 
Delrio is charged with two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
 
Both defendants will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 6/15/2017.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
