Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an air quality index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The air quality index...or aqi...was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the aqi value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated...the New York state department of health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very Young, and those with pre-existing respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Legislator Anker Announces Concert at Heritage Park in Mount Sinai

Concert will take place on July 2 and 6:30 PM.

Mount Sinai, NY - June 2014 - Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker will be sponsoring a summer concert at the North Shore Heritage Park in Mount Sinai on July 2nd.  The concert will feature musicians from the local community, and include performances by the School of Rock and the Organization of Open Mic Performing Artists (OOMPA). 
 
“This concert will serve as a showcase of our local talent,” said Legislator Anker. “The School of Rock and OOMPA provide a wonderful musical venue for both our kids and adults. I’d like to thank Rocky Point VFW Post 6249 and the Heritage Trust for making this possible.” 
 
The show will take place from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items for the Island Harvest food pantry. There will be no formal seating at this outdoor concert, so remember to bring your favorite outdoor chair or blanket!
