The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a coastal flood advisory, which is in effect from 10 PM Thursday to 1 am EDT Friday. * Locations...low lying coastal areas along western Long Island Sound. * Tidal departures...around 1 ft above astronomical tides tonight and 1 to 1 1/2 ft Thursday morning and Thursday night. * Timing...minor flooding around the times of high tide Thursday night. Brief and localized minor flooding possible with tonight's and Thursday morning high tide. * Impacts...minor flooding of the most vulnerable Waterfront and shoreline roads...and adjacent properties due to height of storm tide or wave splashover Thursday night. Inundation of 1 to 1 1/2 ft above ground level in the lowest lying spots. A few Road closures likely with a low threat of property damage. Precautionary/preparedness actions... Legislator Anker Announces Concert at Heritage Park in Mount Sinai

Concert will take place on July 2 and 6:30 PM.

Mount Sinai, NY - June 2014 - Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker will be sponsoring a summer concert at the North Shore Heritage Park in Mount Sinai on July 2nd.  The concert will feature musicians from the local community, and include performances by the School of Rock and the Organization of Open Mic Performing Artists (OOMPA). 
 
“This concert will serve as a showcase of our local talent,” said Legislator Anker. “The School of Rock and OOMPA provide a wonderful musical venue for both our kids and adults. I’d like to thank Rocky Point VFW Post 6249 and the Heritage Trust for making this possible.” 
 
The show will take place from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items for the Island Harvest food pantry. There will be no formal seating at this outdoor concert, so remember to bring your favorite outdoor chair or blanket!
