Man Had Over 100 Animals and Reptiles in Carle Place Home, Some Illegal, SPCA Says

Carle Place, NY - June 6, 2017 - The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Carle Place man on Monday, June 05, 2017 at 12:46pm in Carle Place.
 
According to Detectives, the Nassau County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was present at 3 11th Street for an investigation. Defendant Christopher Koenig, 20, was in possession of multiple animals being kept in cages and tanks in the basement of the residence.   
 
The condition of the animals warranted the defendant to be arrested for one count of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and one count of Failure to give food and drink.
 
The defendant was released on an Appearance Ticket returnable on June 27, 2017 to First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead. The SPCA removed the animals from the home. 
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
