Hicksville Man Arrested for Impersonating Doctor, Issuing Fake Prescriptions

Hicksville, NY - June 5th, 2014 - The Narcotics/Vice Bureau reports the arrest of a Hicksville man on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. in Hicksville for Falsifying Business Records.

According to detectives, between December 2013 and January 2014 the defendant Adeel Riaz, 28 of 51 Lenox Avenue represented himself as a licensed physician while calling multiple pharmacies to request fraudulent prescriptions for Oxycodone and Xanax to be filled in the names of different individuals. Riaz was located at his residence and placed under arrest without incident.

The defendant is charged with 16 counts of Falsifying Business Records 1st degree, 15 counts of Identity Theft 2nd  degree,  and 9 counts of Criminal Impersonation 1st degree. He will be arraigned on Thursday June 5, 2014 at First District Court.
