Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an air quality index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The air quality index...or aqi...was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the aqi value...the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated...the New York state department of health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very Young, and those with pre-existing respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Nassau County Crime Alert: Two Suspects Wanted for Robbing Hempstead Jewelry Store

Robbery Squad detectives are investigating an attempted robbery that occurred in Hempstead on Tuesday, June 03, 2014 at 3:50 P.M.

Hempstead, NY - June 4th, 2014 - Robbery Squad detectives are investigating an attempted robbery that occurred in Hempstead on Tuesday, June 03, 2014 at 3:50 P.M.

According to detectives, two subjects armed with a hand gun, entered Gold Town Jewelers located at 73 Main St., approached employees and demanded jewelry and cash.  The victims refused to comply and the subjects fled the store on foot southbound on Main St., without proceeds.  There were three employees and no customers present in the store at the time of the robbery.

No injuries were reported.

The subjects are described as male blacks in their 20’s.  Subject #1 is thin in build, wearing a black baseball cap, black tee shirt, jeans and armed with a gray handgun.  Subject #2 is 5’5” tall, wearing a gray and red shirt.  No further description is available.
