Port Jeff Station Man Arrested on Drug Charges Following Search Warrant

Port Jefferson Station, NY - June 3rd, 2014 - Suffolk County Police today arrested a Port Jefferson Station man on drug-related charges after a search warrant was executed at his home today.

Following an investigation by the Narcotics Section, Narcotics detectives, with the assistance of officers from Emergency Service Section, Canine and Sixth Precinct Patrol, executed a search warrant in the basement apartment of 73 Ontario St. at 4:30 p.m.  Officers seized more than 17 grams of heroin with an estimated street value of $5500 and drug paraphernalia.

Juan Diaz, 21, was arrested and charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Criminal Use Drug Paraphernalia 2nd Degree and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. He was also charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child for having a 15-year-old person in his apartment.

Diaz will be held overnight at the Sixth Precinct for his arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip tomorrow.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
