When pollution levels are elevated...the New York state department of health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very Young, and those with pre-existing respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Silver Alert Cancelled: Missing Middle Island Woman Found

A woman who is believed to be suicidal has been found unharmed after going missing.

Update - June 4, 2014 - Deon Thompson returned home today unharmed. Below is the original Silver Alert that was issued on May 31.

Middle Island, NY - June 1, 2014 - The Suffolk County Police Department has issued a Silver Alert for a missing woman who is believed to be suicidal.
 
Deon Thompson, 35, was last seen at the residence where she was staying, 2 Fairview Circle, Middle Island, at approximately 10 a.m. today. It is believed that Thompson left on foot and is possibly wearing a yellow shirt and pajama pants.
 
Thompson is described as black, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall with a heavy build. She has brown eyes and short black hair.
 
Anyone with information about her location is requested to contact police by calling 911 or Seventh Squad detectives at 631-852-8752.
