"Blizzard Warning" ...Blizzard Warning remains in effect until midnight EST tonight... * locations...Suffolk County in southeast New York...and southern Middlesex and southern New London counties in southeast Connecticut. * Hazard types...heavy snow and blowing snow...with blizzard conditions. * Accumulations...snow accumulation of 20 to 30 inches...with locally higher amounts. * Snowfall rates...2 to 4 inches per hour into this morning. * Winds...north 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph. * Visibilities...one quarter mile or less at times. * Temperatures...in the lower 20s. * Timing...heaviest snow and strongest winds this morning. * Impacts...life-threatening conditions and extremely dangerous travel due to heavy snowfall and strong winds...with whiteout conditions. Many roads may become impassable. Strong winds may down power lines and tree limbs. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds and poor visibilities will lead to whiteout conditions...making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. SCPD: Man Shot in Leg During Party

Incident occurred in North Amityville on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at approximately 7:10 p.m.

North Amityville, NY - June 2, 2014 - Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that injured a Copiague man last night.
 
Jamar Ambrose was attending a party at 8 Avon Drive in North Amityville when he was shot in the leg while standing outside the home. Ambrose, 23, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
 
Detectives are asking anyone with information on this incident to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
