Nassau County, NY - May 31, 2017 - Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick) was pleased to announce today that the Nassau Library System is being awarded $387,473, collectively, to four separate libraries in Nassau County. The funds have been awarded as follows:

“Libraries play an important role in bringing our communities together,” said McDonough. “By providing amenities such as classes, programs and access to knowledge for people of all ages, library facilities must be well maintained. This grant will help ensure that the Nassau Library System can sustain the proper care of and renovations to these facilities so they can continue to serve and provide a place for the community to gather.”

The program is a part of a $19 million fund approved in this year’s state budget for 216 construction projects throughout the state.

“Additionally, in a world where technology is becoming more prevalent in the lives of our youth, the prospect of additional space in the teen section is exciting,” McDonough continued. “Because many libraries depend on public funding to stay afloat, it remains critical that we promote and support these important assets to our communities at a state level.”
