"Heat Advisory" ...Heat advisory in effect from 11 am to 6 PM EDT Monday... The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a heat advisory...which is in effect from 11 am to 6 PM EDT Monday. * Heat index values...up to 101 due to temperatures in the low to mid 90s and dewpoints in the lower 70s. * Timing...highest heat indices Monday afternoon. * Impacts...the combination of the heat and humidity will increase the risk for heat related health issues...especially for the elderly...those with chronic health problems such as lung and heart disease...those working outdoors...and other heat sensitive groups of people. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A heat advisory is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 100 to 104 degrees for two consecutive hours. To reduce risk during outdoor work the occupational safety and health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Two Men from Oyster Bay Arrested for Assault

Second Squad detectives report the arrest of two Oyster Bay men for an Assault that occurred on May 26, 2014 at 9:55 pm in Oyster Bay.

Oyster Bay, NY - May 27th, 2014 - Second Squad detectives report the arrest of two Oyster Bay men for an Assault that occurred on May 26, 2014 at 9:55 pm in Oyster Bay.

According to detectives, after becoming involved in an altercation with two male victims, ages 17 and 18 at Roosevelt Park, the defendants Allan Nunez, 18, of 223 Mill River Road and Marvin Zavala, 18, of 117 Pine Hollow Road displayed knives and caused the 17 year old victim to sustain a laceration to his hand.

Both defendants, who fled the scene, were located a short time later inside Roosevelt Park and were placed under arrest without incident.

The 17 year old victim was transported to a local hospital to receive treatment for his injury.

Both Nunez and Zavala are charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Menacing 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. They will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 05/27/2014.
