Ridge, NY - May 25, 2016 - On Saturday, May 21st, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker joined the Ridge Volunteer Fire Department at their 75th Anniversary Memorial Day Parade.  The parade included Boy Scout Troop #187, the Ridge Civic Association, the Bay Shore Fire Department Band and members of Rocky Point VFW Post 6249.

The parade started at Smith Road and continued east on Route 25. The parade ended at the Ridge Veteran's Memorial on Ridge Road, where a small memorial service was held to honor and commemorate the servicemen and women who have lost their lives to protect our freedom.

The Ridge Fire Department also graciously held a barbeque at their headquarters to celebrate Memorial Day.

“I would like to thank the Ridge Volunteer Fire Department and the Ridge community for coming together on such an important holiday,” said Legislator Anker. “It is essential that we remember and honor those who died for our freedom, and continue to support and thank those who are presently serving in our armed forces.”
