NCPD: Woman Arrested After Shots Fired

Freeport, NY - May 18, 2014 - The First Squad reports the arrest of a Hempstead woman at 1:40am on May 18, 2014 in Freeport.
 
According to Detectives, Freeport Police Officers responded for a shots fired call on Leonard Avenue.  (No injuries were reported at that incident).  Upon investigation at that scene an officer observed a gold colored four door Saturn sedan driving up and down the block in a suspicious manner.  The officer then observed the driver make an illegal U-turn and the vehicle’s driver’s side taillight was not functioning.  The officer conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop on Independence Avenue. The investigation resulted with the arrest of Sharema Fields, 20, of 19 Tyler Avenue. The defendant is charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm.  She also received traffic summons for the illegal U-turn, brake lights and an out of class license.  She will be arraigned in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead on May 18, 2014.
