The National Weather Service in New York has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow and freezing rain...which is in effect from 10 am Sunday to 7 am EST Monday. * Locations...New York City...Long Island...northeast New Jersey...the lower Hudson Valley and Fairfield County. * Hazard types...snow...with freezing rain across New York City...Long Island...most of northeast New Jersey...and coastal portions of the lower Hudson Valley and Fairfield County. * Accumulations...snow accumulation of 2 to 6 inches...along with up to around a tenth of an inch of ice. * Visibilities...1/4 to 1/2 miles at times. * Timing...snow develops beginning late Sunday morning over western portions of the tri-state...then expands over the remainder of the advisory area Sunday afternoon. The snow will mix with or change to freezing rain across New York City...Long Island...most of northeast New Jersey...and coastal portions of the lower Hudson Valley and Fairfield County Sunday evening. The precipitation will taper off from west to east after midnight Sunday night. * Impacts...snow covered surfaces...coated with ice in areas...will make traveling difficult at times. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow...sleet...or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Man Arrested for Stabbing Death in Babylon

Arrest occured pn Locust Ave in Babylon on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 12:02 PM.

Babylon, NY - May 17, 2014 - Suffolk County Police today arrested a Babylon man after he stabbed another man to death on a street in Babylon this afternoon.
 
During a fight on Locust Avenue, Michael Grusel, 28, stabbed James Moran, 20, at 12:02 p.m. A witness broke up the fight and Moran told the witness that he had been stabbed. The witness alerted off-duty Suffolk County Police Officer Fred Bothe as Grusel was fleeing the scene. Bothe was able to take Grusel into custody, with the assistance of other civilians, and held him until First Precinct officers arrived.
 
Moran, of 10 Cherry Lane, Bay Shore, was transported by the Babylon Fire Department to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead.
 
Homicide Squad detectives charged Grusel, of 3 Lewis Circle, Babylon, with Manslaughter 1st Degree. He will be held overnight at the First Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on May 18.
