‘Cowspiracy,’ ‘Gasland’ and ‘The Corporation’ Directors on Tom Needham’s The Sounds of Film

Stony Brook, NY - May 17, 2017 - Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret’s director Kip Andersen will be Tom Needham’s featured guest this Thursday on WUSB’s the Sounds of Film. Also on the program, are Gasland’s Josh Fox and The Corporation: The Pathological Pursuit of Profit and Power’s Joel Bakan.
 
Kip Anderson is the director of Cowspiracy: The Sustainabilty Secret and the follow-up film, What the Health. Cowspiracy, executive produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, explores the impact of animal agriculture on the environment.  It also examines the lack of attention that leading environmental groups give to the animal agriculture’s role in global warming.  Writer Chris Hedges, who wrote the introduction to the film’s companion book, states that viewing the film led to him becoming a vegan.  Andersen’s follow-up film, What the Health, investigates why the nation’s leading health organization’s don’t want us to know the secrets to preventing and reversing chronic diseases.
 
Also on the Sounds of Film are directors Josh Fox and Joel Bakan. Josh Fox is the director of Gasland and Gasland 2, films which look at the dangers of hydraulic fracking, the controversial method of extracting natural gas and oil from the earth. Joel Bakan is the director of the Corporation: The Pathological Pursuit of Profit and Power, a film which compares the way corporations behave to psychopathy. The film features commentary by Michael Moore, Naomi Klein, Howard Zinn and Noam Chomsky.
