Bay Shore, NY - May 17, 2016 - Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a husband and wife in Bay Shore this afternoon.
Travis Hairston, 75, of Bay Shore, was driving a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis northbound on Fifth Avenue when the vehicle apparently left the roadway, crashed through a chain link fence and struck a tree on the lawn of a house at the northeast corner of Fifth Avenue and Hansen Street at approximately 4:10 p.m.
Travis Hairston and her husband, Frank Hairston, 81, of Bay Shore, were transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore by the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Ambulance. Both victims succumbed to their injuries.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this crash to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
