Extreme heat can cause illness and death among the at-risk population who can not stay cool. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A heat advisory is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 95 to 99 degrees for two or more consecutive days, or 100 to 104 degrees for any length of time. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the occupational safety and health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Crime Alert: Man Shot in Farmingdale

Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that injured a Farmingdale man early this morning.

Farmingdale, NY - May 16th, 2014 - Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that injured a Farmingdale man early this morning.

William Proefreidt, 25, of Cherry Street Farmingdale, was in the parking lot of Café Royale, located at 101 Route 109, Farmingdale when he was shot once in the neck while at approximately 12:35 a.m.

Proefreidt was transported to Nassau County Medical Center where he was listed in serious but stable condition.

Detectives are actively investigating the incident and ask anyone who may have witnessed the shooting to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
