Mt. Sinai, NY, May 2013 – Legislator Anker recognized the members of the Mt. Sinai Fire Department at their Annual Installation Dinner held on Saturday, May 4 at Majestic Gardens in Rocky Point.

“It’s an honor to attend this celebration to honor our volunteers who put their lives at risk to help others,” said Legislator Anker.  “During the February blizzard, the Mt. Sinai Fire Department volunteers helped a constituent during a medical emergency. The man needed to get to the hospital, but was unable to get out of his home.  The firefighters were able to transport him on a sled to get him to a a waiting ambulance.  A special thanks to Assistant Chief David Taylor, Assistant Chief Jamie Baldassare, Assistant Chief Nicholas Beckman, Captain Daniel Ryzuk, Lieutenant Michael Loguercio, Firefighter James Christiano, Firefighter Nicholas Sinnot, and Lieutenant Robert Pobjecky.

After the storm, Rob Pobjecky continued to show great compassion by shoveling the man’s driveway so that he could attend follow up doctor visits. Rob also received the award for Firefighter of the Year. In addition to the many awards given at the event, Harry Randall received recognition for his 60 years of dedicated service, Henry Knoernschild for 50 years of dedicated service, and Ronald Bobrowsky and John Roddy were both recognized for devoting 40 years of service.
