Rockville Centre, NY - May 8, 2017 - Senator Todd Kaminsky and Rockville Centre Mayor Francis X. Murray called on  NYS Parks and Recreation to install a dog park at Hempstead Lake State Park. Kaminsky and Murray wrote a letter to Long Island Regional Director Wayne Horsley requesting that he study the proposal and offering assistance to move the project forward.

“Pets are extensions, if not outright members of many of the families who reside in the greater Rockville Centre area,” wrote Senator Todd Kaminsky and Mayor Francis X. Murray. “In light of the park’s central location and the availability of open space there, we believe that this particular spot is suitable for just such an establishment.”

Hempstead Lake State Park does not currently have a designated recreational space for local pet owners and their dogs. With the addition of a dog park at Hempstead Lake, local dog owners will be drawn to the park, allowing them to experience the natural beauty of the grounds.
