Officials: Father Attempts to Stop Mother from Driving Drunk with Their Kids, Ages 2 and 6, in Vehicle

NCPD reports the arrest of Ashley Cumbo of Westbury, 27, for DWI in Bellerose Village.

Bellerose Village, NY - May 8, 2017 - The Nassau County Police Department reports the arrest of a Westbury woman for DWI at 1:33am on Monday, May 08, 2017 in Bellerose Village.
 
According to Police, Officers responded to the 7-11 located at 250-50 Jericho Turnpike for a verbal argument between two individuals. The 28 year old male had followed Ashley Cumbo, 27, because he had suspected that she was driving her vehicle with their two children, ages 2 and 6yrs, in it under the influence of alcohol.  
 
During the investigation Officers observed Ashley Cumbo to have a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath, glassy eyes and her vehicle, with the two children in the vehicle, was not properly parked in the stall in the lot. Officers arrested Ashley Cumbo and released the two children into the custody of their father.
 
Defendant Ashley Cumbo is charged with two counts of Aggravated Driving while Intoxicated (Leandra’s Law), two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and two counts of DWI. The defendant will be arraigned on Monday, May 08, 2017 in First District Court 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
