Motorcyclist Killed, Wife Seriously Injured in Holbrook Crash

Holbrook, NY - May 3, 2014 - Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a motorcycle crash that killed a man and seriously injured his wife, who was a passenger on the motorcycle, early this morning in Holbrook.
 
James Burvenich, 36, was traveling northbound on Patchogue Holbrook Road, at an apparent high rate of speed, when he lost control of his 2004 Honda on a curve, and the motorcycle struck a guardrail at 1:12 a.m.
 
Burvenich, of Huntington Station, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital via Ronkonkoma Rescue where he was pronounced dead.  Burvenich’s wife, LeeAnn 33, was also transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where she was listed in serious condition. Both husband and wife were wearing helmets.
 
The motorcycle was impounded for a safety check. The investigation is continuing and detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
