SCPD Arrest Man for Burglary at East Patchogue Residence

Suffolk County Police today arrested a man for entering an unoccupied home and cutting copper pipes.

East Patchogue, NY - May 5, 2015 - Suffolk County Police today arrested a man for entering an unoccupied home and cutting copper pipes.

Residents noticed a suspicious man wearing a backpack by 151 South Dunton Avenue and called 911. Fifth Precinct Patrol Officers Matthew DeMatteo and Kevin Yoli responded and made entry through the front door and found Shawn Eldridge hiding in the basement.

Eldridge, 46, of East Patchogue was arrested for Burglary 3rd Degree and Possession of Burglar Tools.

Eldridge will be held overnight at the 5th Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on May 6.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
