Written by Long Island News & PR  |  01. May 2014

Melville, NY - May 1st, 2014 - A celebration of childhood, the fourth annual All Kids Fair recently took place on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at the Melville Marriott - Long Island.  Over 1,000 attendees enjoyed the day, which brought together individuals, businesses, and non-profit organizations with children from birth through high school age along with their families.

Attendee Dalia Hedwat summed up the day by saying “We really enjoyed [the All Kids Fair] and had so much fun.  My kids are so happy.”

The All Kids Fair was part education and activities expo and part health and wellness fair.  In over 90 exhibitor spaces, many available programs and services across Long Island were presented, including after school activities, birthday party ideas, schools, camps, health and wellness products and services, special needs, financial services, babysitting, and tutoring.  Many fun activities at the event included face painting, sand art, and fun crafts, and food samples from area restaurants were available for attendees to enjoy.

Twenty-four classes took place with some focused on the adults and others geared towards children.  Topics for the adults included childhood obesity and treatments for varicose veins from pregnancy.  Classes for the children and their families to enjoy together included music, sports, hip hop, book readings, and golf classes.

For their attendees’ convenience, a new addition to this year’s event was free valet parking.  QuackerJack of the Long Island Ducks visited and took photos with the kids, and a juggler from the Big Apple Circus entertained everyone.

Many non-profits participated in this year's event.  The INN (Interfaith Nutrition Network) held a food and funds collection, whereby donors received raffle tickets to win desirable prizes, such as Long Island Ducks tickets.  They collected over $210 and 55 pounds of food.
Penelope’s Odyssey offered simple cheek swabbing for the lifesaving National Bone Marrow Registry, and eighteen altruistic adults were swabbed this year.  Other non-profits included Boy Scouts of America, Strong Island Kids, and Huntington YMCA,

Long Island Parent Magazine, Your Local Kids Source, All About Kids, LongIsland.com, and Long Island Laser Center for Vein Treatment sponsored this year’s All Kids Fair.
