Village of Hempstead Swears in New Fire Department Chiefs

Four Chiefs in total were sworn in to their duties of overseeing the safety of Hempstead Village residents.

Hempstead, NY - April 27, 2017 - The Village of Hempstead recently swore in new Fire Department chiefs during a recent board meeting. The new chiefs are responsible for the organization and direction of the Fire Department in order to ensure that loss of life, property, or injury as a result of fire is minimized or prevented. 
 
The Fire Department provides fire protection and fire extinguishing services, initiating life rescue, rendering emergency medical assistance, controlling hazardous material situation including weapons of mass destruction incidents and providing related emergency services. The Fire Department administers and enforces the prevention code and the housing code. The Village Fire Department also promotes prevention activities designed to reduce the incidence and probability of fire.
 
The new Fire Chiefs are:
  • Chief of Department Fredric V. Sandas Jr.
  • Assistant Chief Stephen Giardino
  • Second Assistant Chief Scott C. Clark
  • Third Assistant Chief Kyle J. Boles
