Suffolk Legislator Anker: Ridge Road to Get Traffic Light
Shoreham, NY - April 27, 2017 - At the request of Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker, and after a rigorous traffic safety investigation, the New York State Department of Transportation will install a traffic signal at the intersection of NYS Route 25A and Ridge Road in Shoreham. For years, Legislator Anker has expressed her concerns to the NYSDOT that the intersection is a serious hazard to drivers, as they cannot safety enter or exit Ridge Road.
“This intersection is a safety threat to residents every day. The addition of the traffic signal at the intersection of Ridge Road and Route 25A is a proactive approach to addressing the increasing trend of car accidents and will create a safer intersection for all drivers,” said Legislator Anker. “I will continue to work with all levels of government to create safer street for Suffolk County residents.”
The investigation of the Ridge Road and Route 25A intersection included an accident analysis, a review of traffic counts, a delay study, and a field observation of the area. Due to the increasing number of accidents, NYSDOT believes that a traffic signal will help make the intersection safer for drivers.
