"Heat Advisory" ...Heat advisory remains in effect from noon to 8 PM EDT Monday... * heat index values...around 100 due to temperatures near 90... and dewpoints in the lower 70s. * Timing...highest heat indices Monday afternoon. * Impacts...the combination of the heat and humidity will increase the risk for heat related health issues...especially for the elderly...those with chronic health problems such as lung and heart disease...those working outdoors...and other heat sensitive groups of people. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A heat advisory is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 100 to 104 degrees for two consecutive hours. To reduce risk during outdoor work the occupational safety and health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Man Arrested for DWI after Crash with Children in his Vehicle

Incident occurred in front of 881 East Jericho Turnpike, Huntington Station.

Hutnington Station, NY - April 27, 2014 - Suffolk County Police arrested a Huntington Station man for driving while intoxicated with his two children in the vehicle.
 
Duhaney Duncan was driving a 2005 Dodge pickup westbound on the shoulder of Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station last night at 7:55 p.m. when he struck a Nissan minivan that was parked in front of the Brooklyn Pizza restaurant, located at 881 Jericho Turnpike. Duncan and his two children, ages 1 and 2, who were in the vehicle with him at the time of the crash, were not injured.
 
Second Squad detectives charged Duncan, 42, of Oak Crest Drive, Huntington Station with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated With a Child 15 Years Old or Younger (Leandra’s Law) and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
 
Duncan is being held at the Second Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned today and First District Court in Central Islip.
 
The children were released to their mother.
