Frederick E. Johnson, 54, of Roosevelt, was the driver discovered at the scene of the fatal auto accident.

North Hills, NY - April 20, 2016 - The Third Squad reports the details of fatal auto accident that occurred on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 8:22 pm.

According to detectives, a Highway Patrol Officer on routine patrol observed a 2013 Tractor Trailer parked with its hazard lights on in the westbound shoulder of the Long Island Expressway between exits 33 and 34. Upon checking on the driver the officer then discovered that the driver Frederick E. Johnson, 54, of Roosevelt was pinned under the tractor trailer and unresponsive. Johnson was pronounced deceased by a Nassau County Police Medic at 8:45 pm. The Nassau County Motor Carrier Unit responded and preformed a brake and safety check at the scene. It was determined that the parked truck suddenly moved forward pinning the driver. Detectives report no criminality at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
