Two In Police Custody After Attempted Burglary of Uniondale Residence

Uniondale, NY - April 20, 2017 - The First Squad reports the details of two arrests for Burglary which occurred on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 9:45 am in Uniondale.
 
According to detectives, First Precinct patrol officers responded to a Walton Avenue home for a burglary in progress call. Upon arrival they observed Vitelio Cornejo, 34, of Roosevelt being held at the scene by one of the residents of the home. He was placed under arrest at scene.  
 
A second suspect, carrying a crowbar, advanced towards a second resident before fleeing on foot northbound towards Hempstead Turnpike. Officers were able to locate the second suspect, identified as Marvin A. Segovia-Garcia, 32, of Hempstead, hiding in a wooded area east of 101 James Doolittle Boulevard and place him under arrest. During the investigation it was discovered the suspects gained entry to the home after damaging the rear door.
 
Both men are charged with Burglary 1st degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd degree and Possession of Burglar Tools. Additionally Segovia-Garcia is charged with Assault 2nd degree and Menacing 2nd degree.
 
They will be arraigned on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at First District Court in Hempstead.
