Maldane Cockett, 26, of Copiague, was arrested for criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance in North Massapequa. Cockett is employed as a school bus driver for Suffolk County Transportation.

CORRECTION - April 19, 2016 -  The defendant is employed by Educational Bus Transportation. An earlier release incorrectly indicated he was employed with Suffolk County Transportation.

North Massapequa, NY - April 19, 2016 - The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of a Copiague man for criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance that occurred in N. Massapequa on Monday, 04/18/16 at 8:05 P.M.

According to detectives, Maldane Cockett, 26, of Copiague, while on N. Broadway/N. Beech St. sold Heroin to another for an agreed upon amount of money.  The defendant is employed as a school bus driver for Educational Bus Transportation.

Nassau/Suffolk Heroin Task Force detectives, along with Bureau of Special Operations police officers place the defendant under arrest at the scene.  Cockett is being charged with Criminal Sale Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession Controlled Substance 3rd Degree and was arraigned on Tuesday, 04/19/16 in First District Court, Hempstead.
