Uniondale, NY - April 18, 2017 - In honor of National Lineman Appreciation Day, PSEG Long Island is taking the time to thank its linemen for all they do for the company, the community they serve and its customers.
“PSEG Long Island’s mission is to provide safe, resilient and reliable service for its customers and we cannot do that without the 24/7 dedication and hard-work that our lineman provide,” said John O’Connell, PSEG Long Island vice president of transmission and distribution operations. “PSEG Long Island linemen power our customers, our businesses and our communities across Long Island and the Rockaways. We are honored to thank them on this special day and every day, they deserve it.”
PSEG Long Island has more than 500 in-house and contracted linemen that play a vital role in ensuring that customers have the best-in-class service that they expect and deserve. From blue-sky days to dangerous storms, linemen are always ready and available. When residents are told to stay safe inside due to dangerous weather conditions, it is the dedicated linemen that are outside working 16-hour shifts to repair and restore service.
PSEG Long Island’s linemen are not just dedicated to Long Island and the Rockaways, but also to customers across the country. When another utility needs help with storm preparation or restoration, PSEG Long Island linemen are asked to volunteer to pick-up and leave their families in order to help customers of another utility. And they do it, because they know they can help people in need and provide them with the power needed to get their lives back to normal.
