Suffolk County - April 16, 2014 - Suffolk County United Veterans received another visit to the John J. Lynch Vets Place shelter from the Long Island Cares Veterans Project Mobile Outreach Unit, loaded with 652 pounds of fresh produce and 181 pounds plus of personal care and paper product items. The donation was for Veterans and their family members in need which helped to provide over 541 meals, and which supplements items available at the Food Pantry, which receives funding throughout the year from Long Island Cares to stock its shelves.

“The work SCUV does in helping align veterans with everything they need ranging from housing to job development programs is inspiring, and Long Island Cares is proud to partner with them as much as possible to support their vital work,” said Michael Haynes, Coordinator of Government Affairs and Public Policy, The Chapin Center for Public Policy, Long Island Cares. Ms. Massimo, Program Director for Suffolk County United Veterans added, “We are grateful to Long Island Cares, who continue to provide tremendous support for our Veterans.”

The John J. Lynch Vets Place food pantry is located at 32 Mill Road in Yaphank, NY and is open to all Veterans, Military, and their family each Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 12:00pm.

Suffolk County United Veterans, founded in 1989, serves the homeless and at-risk Veterans and their families of Suffolk County, Long Island, NY. Our organization operates eight sites of progressively-tiered housing in conjunction with a comprehensive range of programs and support services.
