Live Updates: Multiple Explosions at Finish Line of Boston Marathon

According to numerous bystanders, a large explosion just happened at the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

Update: 5:00 PM: Boston PD has stated that they believe the explosions at JFK Library are in fact related to those at the Boston Marathon.

Update: 4:58 PM: Boston Police has confirmed there has been another explosion at JFK library, but have not disclosed whether or not they believe it is related to the explosion at the Boston Marathon. Boston Officials are going to be holding a Press Conference with the latest.

Update: 4:55 PM: In response to the explosions in Boston, and NYPD Commissioner Kelly's ramping up of police security in NYC, Mayor Bloomberg has made the following statement, reassuring New Yorkers of their safety:

“As law enforcement authorities investigate today’s explosions in Boston, I ask all New Yorkers to keep the victims and their families in your thoughts and prayers. I have spoken with Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, and the NYPD has stepped up security at strategic locations and critical infrastructure, including our subways. Some of the security steps we are taking may be noticeable, including deployment of Critical Response Vehicles and additional police personnel, and others will not be. We have 1,000 members of the NYPD assigned to counter-terrorism duties, and they – along with the entire NYPD and the investments we have made in counter-terrorism infrastructure – are being fully mobilized to protect our city.”

 

Update: 4:28 PM: In response to the numerous explosions in Boston, the NYPD has ramped  up security around New York Landmarks and places of interest.

According to USA Today, 2 more explosive devices were found in Boston on the marathon's path, and have been dismantled.


Update: 4:17 PM: According to the latest reports from Boston Police, 2 people have been killed, and there have been at least 23 wounded.

 

Update: 4:02 PM: According to CBS News, a third explosion was just heard in Boston, and is believed to be a controlled detonation device.

 

Update: 3:51 PM: According to The Boston Globe, dozens of people have been wounded, some of with dismemberment.

 

 

Boston, MA - According to numerous first hand accounts, multiple large explosions have just occurred at the end site of the Boston Marathon. Twitter users have been posting countless photos of the explosion, and authorities have released very little information at this time.

 

According to CBS News Alerts, the Boston Marathon Headquarters is under lockdown, and numerous ambulances are responding to the scene.

The American Red Cross has encouraged those with loved ones or family participating in the face to check their Safe & Well Listings for information, and those in the area of the explosion that are safe to list themselves, and try to connect with their families.
