Legislator Anker Recognizes Miller Place Firefighters

In conjunction with the Miller Place Fire Department, Legislator Anker presented recognition awards to department members for their exceptional service.

Rocky Point, NY - April 6th, 2016 - On Saturday, April 2nd, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker joined the Miller Place Fire District at their Annual Installation Dinner at Majestic Gardens in Rocky Point.

Legislator Anker presented recognition awards to members of the department for their service. Alfred Kopcienski and Jack Katrina received recognition for 45 years of service, Carol Hawat was named EMT of the year, and Jeff Kinkaid was named Firefighter of the year.

“The Miller Place Fire Department deserves nothing but our utmost gratitude,” said Legislator Anker. “Their service is vital to keeping our community safe. I am proud to honor these local heroes.”

Legislator Anker also had the opportunity to recognize those who are both volunteer firefighters and veterans. Through Suffolk County’s veteran recognition program, Legislator Anker awarded pins to the following veterans: John Hagermann, Don Nimphius, Michele Devaux, Robert Foley, Alvin Johnson, Scott Walsh, Chris Lall, Mike Higley, Joe McCrain Jr., John Quinn, Guy Schneider, Jack Katrina, and Thomas Crosby.
