Arson/Bomb Squad Detectives Report Details of Fatal House Fire in Roosevelt.

Roosevelt, NY - April 3, 2015 - Arson/Bomb Squad detectives report the details of a fatal house fire that occurred on Friday, April 3, 2015 at 2:20 A.M. in Roosevelt.
 
According to detectives, Roosevelt Fire Department responded to a fire at 87 Debevoise Avenue.  Fire Department personnel extinguished the fire and discovered the deceased body of a 50 year old male on the second floor. Identification of the deceased is being withheld pending positive identification through DNA.  Two occupants escaped by jumping from the second floor, suffered minor injuries and were treated and released at a local hospital. 
 
Over 100 fire personnel from several neighboring Fire Departments, including North Merrick, Baldwin, South Hempstead, Uniondale, Merrick, Freeport and North Bellmore responded to the scene to assist in extinguishing the fire. 
 
The cause of the fire appears to be non-suspicious and caused by an overloaded electrical connection.  The Red Cross responded to assist the ten residents that have been displaced.
 
The investigation is ongoing.
