Port Jefferson, NY - April 3, 2014 - Friends of Karen is pleased to welcome four new members to its Long Island Advisory Board.

Shelley Berent, an associate with Berko & Associates based in Manhattan, has an extensive career in the New York title industry both  residential and commercial. A graduate of Stony Brook University, she and her husband reside in Manhattan and Rocky Point, NY.

Gary Shroff is the Founder of iScholar, a School & Office Supplies Manufacturer based in Long Island, NY.  iScholar is a leading supplier of stationery products and is amongst the top 5 suppliers of notebooks in North America offering a wide array of paper products with a focus on environmentally sustainable recycled paper.

Gary received his Joint Executive MBA from Duke University in North Carolina and the University of Frankfurt in Germany and holds a BS in Information Systems from Rutgers University & the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Gary lives with his wife and daughter in Roslyn, NY.

A graduate of Stony Brook University, Rhonda Klch and her husband Stephen opened Equity First, a boutique firm with a focus on clients in financial distress that offers services such as debt settlement, credit restoration, budget planning, short sales and loan modification.  A mother of five boys, she and her family live in Mount Sinai, NY.

With more than 25 years of diversified business experience, Rachael Ringold has been involved  in the finance and mortgage banking industry for the last 14 years, now serving as a Mortgage Loan Officer at Capital One Bank.  She and her two sons live in Setauket, NY.

Friends of Karen, with office in Port Jefferson, Manhattan and Westchester, New York provides emotional, financial and advocacy support to families with a child with cancer or another life-threatening illness, in order to help keep them stable, functioning, and able to cope. Since 1978, they have touched the lives of more than 12,900 children.

Friends of Karen is widely recognized for its operational efficiency, with 81 cents of every dollar collected going directly to support families. Charity Navigator, an independent organization that evaluates the financial efficiency and responsibility of thousands of U.S. charities, has awarded Friends of Karen a 4-star rating – their highest award for the past six years.
