NCPD: Car Crashes Into Coach Bus Killing One, Injuring Two

Albertson, NY - April 2nd, 2014 - The Homicide Squad reports the details of a fatal auto accident that occurred on Tuesday, April 01, 2014 at 9:01 am in Albertson.

According to detectives, Facundo R. Ponce, 43, of 36 Orchard Street, Glen Head was operating a 2006 Dodge pick up truck south on Roslyn Road at which time he lost control and was redirected into the northbound lane and struck a MCI bus owned by the Coach Bus Company. The bus then struck a tree. Ponce was pronounced upon arrival by a Nassau County Advanced Medical Technician. The 60 year old male bus driver and a 38 year old male passenger both had to be extricated from the bus by the Nassau County Emergency Service Unit. Both victims were then transported to a local hospital and treated for multiple injuries. They are both listed in critical condition. There were no other passengers on the bus.

The Dodge pick up was impounded for safety inspections. The bus was inspected and released. The investigation is ongoing.
