Baldwin HS Student Under Arrest After Threatening on Snapchat to Bring Gun to School

NCPD report the arrest of Shamari Gerrow, 20, a Baldwin High School student, on Thursday, March 30 in Baldwin.

Baldwin, NY – March 31, 2017 – First Squad detectives report the arrest of a Baldwin High School student for an incident that occurred on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 10:35 am in Baldwin.
 
According to detectives, information was received by Baldwin High School officials that a current student, Shamari Gerrow, 20, of Baldwin, posted a public “Snapchat” message containing a video showing three handguns and a message referencing to which gun he would bring to school.
                 
911 were contacted and officers who responded to the school came upon Gerrow who then fled in an effort to evade being apprehended. During a foot pursuit with officers, Gerrow was observed throwing a black handgun into a shopping center dumpster just prior to being apprehended on Emerson Avenue & Browning Street.  He was then placed into custody without further incident.
 
The handgun, which was recovered, was a black air powered pistol.
 
Gerrow is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon Upon School Grounds and Making a Terroristic Threat. He will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 3/31/2017.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
