Queens Man Arrested for Stripping Cars for Parts in Bellerose Terrace

Bellerose Terrace, NY - March 31st, 2015 - The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of a Queens man for criminal possession of stolen property and auto stripping with occurred in Bellerose Terrace on Monday, 03/30/15 at 2:29 P.M.

According to detectives, a Third Precinct Police officer recovered a stripped 1998 Honda Civic on 226th St./95th Ave. in Bellerose Terrace which was reported stolen in the Third Precinct on Sunday, 03/29/15. While canvassing the area, the officer observed defendant Lekhram Karim, 20, of 195th Place, Jamaica, working on his Honda Civic, in the garage bay of 226-02 Jamaica Ave., along with Honda vehicle parts and personal items belonging to the victim of the stolen car.  

Subsequent investigation resulted in the recovery of the engine and transmission of said stolen vehicle installed in the Honda Civic owned by the defendant and parts from two additional Honda Civics which were reported stolen from New York City.

Karim is being charged with Criminal Possession Stolen Property 3rd Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession Stolen Property 4th Degree, Auto Stripping 2nd Degree and Possession Burglary Tools. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, 03/31/15 in First District Court, Hempstead.
