West Babylon, NY - March 28th, 2016 - Suffolk County Legislator Kevin McCaffrey (R-Lindenhurst) proudly joined with his colleagues from state and local government at the West Babylon Fire Department’s annual installation dinner held at the East Wind Catering Hall.

In addition to the dignitaries, many proud friends and family members were in attendance to join the celebration of those being installed to office or honored for their distinguished service.

One of those individuals receiving special recognition was Peter McArdle, the out-going Chief of Department.  Peter’s history with the West Babylon Fire Department goes back an impressive 32 years. Over those years, Peter steadily rose through the ranks to ultimately become Chief of Department in 2014.

“Peter’s dedication to public service is impressive to say the least,” said McCaffrey. “Peter always found time to make contributions to the public safety of West Babylon, even while he was still serving as a New York City Police Officer.  It was a true honor to officially recognize Peter today, and I know that he will continue to be an asset to the community for years to come.”

Upon Peter leaving his post as Chief, the West Babylon Fire Department was left in very capable hands with Chief Christine Manzi taking the helm. In addition to having an extensive history with the department, Christine is also well-rooted in the community where she serves as an elementary school teacher at Santapogue Elementary School.

“There is absolutely no shortage of talent within the ranks of the West Babylon Fire Department,” added McCaffrey.  “Each and every single one of the volunteers is a role model and source of inspiration to us all.  I am so grateful that we have them on the job.”
