Miller Place, NY - March 27, 2015 - On March 21, Legislator Sarah Anker joined Boy Scout Troop 204 of Miller Place in congratulating Anthony Mammina, Nathaniel Woodhull Gass, and Kyle Michael Thompson on earning Eagle Scout at Miller Place High School. Legislator Anker presented the new Eagle Scouts with proclamations celebrating their achievement. “I’d like to congratulate these young men on attaining the rank of Eagle Scout,” said Legislator Anker. “Their accomplishments serve as an inspiration to younger members of Troop 204 to continue their adventures in scouting, and I wish them all the best in their future endeavors.”

To fulfill the necessary Eagle Scout requirements, each scout was required to complete a special project within the community. Anthony’s project consisted of making recycling bins for the Recycling Program at Riverhead High School. Nathaniel’s project focused on the final revitalization and preservation of the “Corn Crib,” unique buildings with slatted sides that were elevated on piers which were used to dry and store grain. The Miller Place-Mount Sinai Historical Society’s Corn Crib was built prior to the 1970s and moved there for preservation.

Kyle constructed a Bobwhite Quail brooding cage for the Mount Sinai Elementary School in an effort to accommodate the chicks that were being hatched by the 4th graders at the school.
