Farmingdale, NY - March 25, 2015 - March 20th: Legislator William R. Spencer was thrilled to speak before hundreds of students and leaders from the business, government and non-profit sectors at Farmingdale State College’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Diversity Summit. The mission of the summit is to connect communities throughout Long Island and compete to strengthen STEM education and shape solutions that affect our communities.

Legislator Spencer spoke about the need for 21st century solutions to the vexing challenges Suffolk County is faced with, such as water quality, protecting our shorelines from extreme weather events and sustainable development to grow our local economy.  His presentation focused on the importance of building strength by giving back to the community and primarily directed his message to the youth. “As students, your job is your education. For our local and global community to thrive, we need you to dream, think big, and strive for solutions,” stated Legislator William R. Spencer. “Think about your education as preparation for when my generation hands you the keys to the planet.”
