West Babylon, NY - March 22, 2016 - On the evening of March 10th, Suffolk County Legislator Kevin McCaffrey (R-Lindenhurst) paid a visit to Sgt. John Sardiello Post 1634 for their 17th Annual Law and Order Awards ceremony.  The event was attended by the proud family and friends of this year’s honorees, in addition to state and local elected officials or their representatives.

Post 1634 holds this annual event as a way to express its great pride in the community.   By putting a spotlight on outstanding citizens that live and/or work in the neighborhood, that sense of pride can be shared by all.

This year’s honorees included two police officers from the Suffolk County Police Department’s 1st Precinct (Police Officer Christopher Marksberry and Police Officer Terrance Monahan), as well as a long-serving member of the West Babylon Fire Department (Ex-Chief Jerry Owenburg).

During the ceremony, Officers Marksberry and Monahan were praised for their exceptional professionalism that they exhibit on a daily basis, and for their extraordinary roles in fighting crime.  Similarly, Ex-Chief Owenburg was recognized for his significant part in keeping the residents safe over the course of his 40 year career as a volunteer firefighter.
