Precautionary/preparedness actions... A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be reduced to one quarter mile or less. If driving...slow down...use your low beam headlights...and leave plenty of distance ahead of you in case a sudden stop is needed. , "Special Statement" ...Widespread fog...locally dense at times...through this afternoon across Long Island... Fog will continue across Long Island through this afternoon and possibly into early this evening. Visibilities will be frequently 1/2 to 1 1/2 statute miles...and at times a quarter mile or less...especially along the South Shore of Long Island. Visibilities will improve with a wind shift to the southwest late this afternoon into early this evening. Motorists should be on the look out for rapidly changing visibilities. Jogger Killed in Garden City After Being Struck by Honda CRV

Third Squad detectives report the details of a Fatal Vehicular Auto Accident that occurred on March 21, 2014 at 11:59 am in Garden City.

Update - March 23, 2014 - The below victim has been identified as Irene Puswald from Garden City South.
 
Original Press Release - Garden City, NY - March 22nd, 2014 - Third Squad detectives report the details of a Fatal Vehicular Auto Accident that occurred on March 21, 2014 at 11:59 am in Garden City.
 
According to detectives, while jogging on Kensington Road near the intersection of Salisbury Avenue, a 64 year old female victim was accidentally struck by a 2003 Honda CRV driven by a 43 year old West Hempstead woman who was traveling northbound on Kensington Road.
 
The victim, who sustained multiple trauma injuries, was transported to an area hospital and was pronounced deceased by a staff physician at 4:30 pm. Her identity is being withheld pending family notification.
 
The accident, which involves no criminality, continues to be investigated by detectives.
