Plainview, NY - March 21, 2017 - 120 volunteers of all ages enjoyed music, dancing and kept the spirit of Purimwith Long Island seniors and Holocaust survivors at Share the Joy, an intergenerational mitzvah project at the Mid-Island Y JCC.  Young participants served a hot meal to Holocaust survivors and seniors, and packed goodie bags filled with juice, hamantaschen, coffee and tea bags, cookies, crackers playing cards and other games.

The event was part of Time for Good— the largest volunteer effort in UJA’s history — which aggregates service opportunities from UJA’s nonprofit partners and grantees in one place so people can select projects that best utilize their skills, interests, and time.This year, UJA celebrates 100 years of working with nonprofit partners such as the Mid-Island Y JCC to combat poverty and promote dignity for Jews everywhere and New Yorkers of all backgrounds.
