Miller Place, NY - March 20, 2017 - On Saturday, March 18th, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker joined Boy Scout Troop 204 at Miller Place High School for an Eagle Scout Court of Honor Ceremony to recognize Eagle Scouts Nicholas Mammina, James Gannon, Charles Smith, and Tyler Rouse. Eagle Scout is the highest rank that can be earned by a Boy Scout, and only a small percentage of scouts are granted this rank after earning 21 merit badges and a lengthy review process.

“I would like to commend the Eagle Scouts of Troop 204 for their enthusiasm, skills, and commitment to improving our community,” said Legislator Anker. “May their actions serve as a model to their peers and inspire them to continue their adventures in scouting. I thank them for their local contributions and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.”

In order to become Eagle Scouts, each Boy Scout completed a community service project. Nicholas Mammina constructed food storage shelves and an information kiosk for the food pantry at St. Louis De Montfort. James Gannon organized volunteers and built two picnic tables for Hope House Ministries. Charles Smith built and painted a new outdoor storage shed for American Legion Wilson Ritch Post 432. Tyler Rouse built handicap picnic tables with benches for the Cedar Beach Nature Center, as well as fixed the center’s retaining wall.
