Police Officers Rescue Dog That Fell Through Ice

Four Suffolk County Police officers rescued a black Labrador that fell through the ice into a Lake Ronkonkoma pond yesterday.

Lake Ronkonkoma, NY - March 20th, 2015 - Four Suffolk County Police officers rescued a black Labrador that fell through the ice into a Lake Ronkonkoma pond yesterday.
 
Emergency Service Officers Daniel Coan, Gerry Sheridan, Walter Justincic and Michael Simpson responded to Spectacle Pond at approximately 4:10 p.m. after a 911 caller reported seeing a dog had fallen through the ice.
 
Upon arrival, Officer Coan, wearing an exposure suit, waded through a section of open water, broke ice around the trapped dog and carried the dog to shore.
 
The dog, Guinness, was reunited with its owner who lives nearby.
